But then, you remember that it's not really funny. It's just plain horrifyingly awful. And the laughter you were experiencing morphs into a groan.

Worst Day Ever
It all started with a case of morning hair. I couldn't figure it to look presentable. As I was running out the door, I fell and landed all over the floor. To make matters worse, I was totally late for work.

It all started out terribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then things went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
